if you are watching them on a sub 20" tv screen and don't expect anything more than vhs quality on a disc, then they should be ok.

you very much get what you pay for in respect to Brentwood, Alpha, Madacy, and the other public domain, low budget outfits.

It depends if the DVD is a movie that you're interested in. I've purchased a handful of these very low budget films for liitle $$. Most have been of average or worse quality, but it was a chance to get a film otherwise unavailable.

i bought a couple of these movies once with mixed results. the action/horror movie i got ("bleeders") was terrible, but the action/action movie i got ("street fighter/street fighter 2" double feature) was worth well more than i payed. bleeders was bad in a bad way, but street fighter was bad in an incredibly funny way.

if you're a fan of "bad" movies (not bad movies like XXX or The Rock, but bad movies like independent ones shot on a $5000 budget which gives them unintentional comedic value) then i think it's worth the risk. but if you're not looking for something to laugh at then it'd probly be best to pass on all of them.

I recently bought a Richard Burton triple feature. The reason I bought it was for the first movie on the disc - The Klansman - also starring Lee Marvin and was co-written by Samuel Fuller. Little did I know, there are two versions of this film. 1, the regular, uncut version, and 2, the edited-for-TV version which apparently is in the public domain (or owned by a different company). I got the edited-for-TV version, which completely changes the outcome of the film and cuts out all the bad language and the film's famous violence.
Plus, the quality was awful. But, I only paid five dollars.

Some of the public domain companies put out pretty good discs. The Platinum Corporation Discs (in the oversize CD style cases at Best Buy and Circuit City)are usually great quality, or at least slightly better than VHS. Brian DePalma's GREETINGS has never looked as good, strong, bright, colorful transfer.

I have a couple of the 4 packs, one with Jonathan Demme's ANGELS HARD AS THEY COME and John Milius' EVEL KNIEVEL film. Not unwatchable transfers. Since I couldn't even find them to see on VHS, worth the money.

Devin, are you talking about "All Night Movies" featuring Bikini Med School and Bikini House Calls? I got that for next to nothing with my employee discount just to laugh at it! Did you catch the 1-frame flash of color bars during Brief Affairs? After getting it they put out a 10-movie set with those plus some other movies though including Harrad Experiment, I wonder if those are any good.

I missed that one. After watching Bikini Med School all the way though, I just watched the rest on 2x or 4x. Ill have to watch all of Brief affair to see that. I only got it cause the Wherehouse by me was going out of buisness and thought for $5, what could I loose. Boy, almost wish I had my $5 back.
