Any experience with Onkyo 502 DVD player? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone have this player? I'm curious about audio and video quality, layer changes, bass management, and general disc handling. Seems to be a competitively priced universal. Thanks.

Is it out yet?

Its based on Onkyo's entry level players, so the word "on the street" is that its using a BB DAC (vice Onkyo's typical - and better - Wolfson DAC).

On the video side, Onkyo's have never performed better than "average".

So all in all, and without seeing any reviews on it yet, I would say that it is nothing more than an entry-level universal, none of which are anything to get excited about.

I would like to be proven otherwise however.

It's listed at Crutchfield and the like. Can't find the make of the DAC, just 24-bit/192 kHz which could be anything. Can't seem to find a user review anywhere so far. Trying to find out if it's closer to the SP1000 that seems well liked, or the earlier entries you mentioned.
