I went to 2 stores here in NYC that break street date, (They both had Scarface!) and no Scrooge or Casper in either. :frowning:

So far, Scrooge sounds excellent. Let's hope Universal doesn't screw the pooch....

The DTS version of Casper on LD is still one of the best DTS tracks I've heard.. that reminds me.. I need to check if "Evita" is out in DTS on DVD too..

Chris, can you be more specific. Did you watch it in DD or DTS, 5.1 or 6.1?
any other reviews out there? I think it's great it is being released in EX and ES, hope it out does the LD DTS!

No, I have it on Laserdisc in DTS, it was one of the first mixes of DTS that had stunning reviews across the board. I'm just saying I'm hoping the DTS soundtrack makes it to the DVD :)

I have Casper on DTS Laserdisc and the sound was phenomenal. One of the best sounding DTS movies.:)

well,

I don't know what the LD sounds like, but this is a DVD I can't complain about.

things like...levels are too low, dialnorm etc etc.

I have a 6.1 setup, and it sounded good to me.

I'm quite the fusspot to boot.

very sharp sound, and bass aplenty. dialog is fine too.

I always choose DTS :D

5.1 DTS

Aren't Dreamworks and and New Line the only studios who support ES?

I've seen the Casper dvd yesterday in DTS sound and I must say that it sounds great, it comes very close to the laserdisc edition (which I also had for several years).
The picture also looks great and I can tell you all this is a must have dvd.

Snagged it yesterday... VERY nice job.... Smooth, film-like, nice color saturation, and thankfully they didn't slap on a bunch of EE like so many new releases of late seem to do...

Good job, I'm psyched.... Now, waiting for SCROOGE.....

I picked up the Casper disc at a Best Buy New Releases Table today and turned it over and was like

"WTF??? NO DTS???" (I'm normally not a DTS fanatic but I've heard the LD and was hoping for it).

Then I realized it was the FOOLSCREEN version, so I went to the main DVD section and found the Casper Widescreen DVDs...and yup, thar be DTS!

I think it's kinda cool that they put the DTS track with the OAR version. Makes sense to me, if someone wants the foolscreen version they're probably not too concerned with DTS anyways.

I am glad to hear that the transfer is great. When I first noticed that this disc has a DTS and 3 DD 5.1 tracks PLUS an audio commentary and and a bunch of other extras, I was very worried that the Picture was going to be artifacts galore, but it seems they have done a stellar job with the compression.

Is the DTS track the same mix that was done for the Laserdisc??

I thought the picture was a bit soft, and slightly non-defined (not grainy).

Babe looks much more detailed.
