ok so Sony/Columbia, whomever is releasing what is labeled as a deluxe edition tomorrow.

but as far as i can gather it isnt deluxe or special at all.
in otherwords no extra features other then a 32 or 23 page scrapbook.

in fact it loses at least one "feature", theatrical trailers seem to be missing.

it also has mastered in hi definition on the back label but no telling if the sound has been upgraded.
old dvd was 2-channel surround.

new one looks like it has dropped the full screen side.

there was even a making of dvd released around the time the first one was released.

what happened to it?

deluxe edition, not really.

same with legends of the fall.
this one has removed several features including the
iso score track.

picked this up cheap with a gift card.
couldnt help my curiosity to see the new dvd version to find out if it is better then the first.

the first 15 minutes look spectacular.
comparing to the first release there is obvious cleaning up that has been done.
there is still lots of specs and little white spots here and there.
but it looks brand new next to first dvd.

first looks hazy.
maybe some type of artificial filtering or something.

at about 12 and a half minutes in the 2 boys are talking about what they will be when they grow up.
details on paul's face around his cheeks are very clear, while first dvd is hazy and blurry.

the sound is still dolby 2.0 so no upgrade on the sound.
too bad the score would sound even more beautiful
in 5.1 or even .0

the trialer for river is gone but is on first dvd.

bit raTE HIts well over 9 alot but usually hovers around 6

i would say worth an upgrade.
too bad no extra features are included.

Dropping trailers from the re-release with an improved transfer is an annoying trend. U did it on Casino.

ok thats good news. at the time i posted that i was going by what i saw on the back cover.
so the review says the new legends dvd also has the iso score?

not listed on dvd unl;ess it fall under the "and more" area as listed on the dvd.

i wont buy the new one tho'

already have the sb and the first spec ed
