Second Unit
Of modern films with limited or late appearing scores, Cast Away had almost no score, with the first entry of music being as Tom Hanks is making his final attempt to get the raft over the coral reef and out into the ocean, that is, timed to coincide with his decision to die afloat rather than on land. Close to the 1.5 hour mark? At that point, of course, it does rather give the game away, since the score lifts and swells like the ocean, and makes you feel he will succeed (he is Tom Hanks after all). If memory serves, beyond that point, we get some whales singing, and very little score thereafter.
