I just realized I have two apparently different versions of the Alien Anthology in my Blu-ray collection (guessing I got one as a gift, and filed it away since I already had it in my collection)
.The packaging between the two is not quite the same: one set is noticeably "slimmer" (viewed along the spine) and while the same info is presented on both back labels about the contents, specs, etc I noticed the formatting of the type is different (the lines of text are longer on one version with the "slimmer" packaging, using a slightly smaller font) and the barcode/UPC numbers are different (2454385465450 versus 2454370217750), along with the copyright date that appears on the bottom edge "spine": one is copyright 2010, the other is copyright 2013 (slimmer). Was this just a repackaged release and the sets are otherwise identical?

Just a followup question to owners of this title. I may be slow, but I finally got through my last bit of extras in the set this past weekend (after buying the set release week). I've also spent a ridiculous amount of time in MU-TH-UR Mode over the last 5 years. I was wondering how many others have watched it all, and how long did it take you?

I haven't used MUTHR mode. What does it do?

While you watch the movies, you can access individual enhancement pods for a lot of different things (basically more detailed/behind scenes info). You can save any vital or favorite bits across all 4 movie discs while in the mode, and add, retrieve or compare the next time you go into MU-TH-UR Mode.

I was wondering what is MUTHUR or sounds like MOTHER.

This set was what I (and probably many others) was hoping Blu-ray was going to be all about. While it was touted as advancing the home experience with new and elaborate special features, in the end it probably became too expensive. This one got it right IMO.

^ ALIEN THX Laserisc 70mm Dolby Stereo AC-3

From what I understand, despite what it says on the jacket, the AC-3 on the 1995 laserdisc was actually taken from a Sensurround mix that was used on test prints, rather than the final six-track Dolby Stereo. This is why it has some of the rough sound editing on it (and also why the bass is so ridiculous).

Bass LFE.1 is juicy. Yeah Sensurround was in its day an ear-buster! Landed me with tinnitus in early age, with Battlestar Galactica April 1979 as I heard the inner ear noise some months later and years later was diagnosed by the GP with tinnitus that can lead to severe depression and 3 past attempts to commit suicide over the past 27 years, I'm not kidding last failed attempt was 2004. Maybe I should sue Universal pictures.

Need only to Google it up.

They determined that the majority of tinnitus patients who committed suicide also had ... away fron anti depressants

I read somewhere that the Dolby Atmos tracks (for home) will be AC-3 based, or something to that effect.

Have a copy of that Alien Vs Predator but can't get the game to load up on the current pc. That game freaks me out when those facehuggers leap up and latch onto the face for a good hug. :P Weapons getting low on the pulse-rifle now that sucks. What going to do beat the ALIEN over the head with the rife, not like they gave that an option in the programming of the game but never know it might work? Club an ALIEN.

Maybe it has been noted earlier, but this release must be the best subtitled set ever.

All the special features, commentaries and even trailers are subtitled. I don't think I've ever seen anything so comprehensive.

ALIEN subtiles are good nicely layed out when appearing on screen.
