5.1 testing in a store??? (1 Viewer)

Forgive me if this has been asked but I've never gottin the search function to work here.

What VDV/CD wouold you use to test out a 5.1 system in a store.

I'm upgrading and need some suggestion. I've been talked out of Bose and CSW and might be looking at Polks.

Got about $800ish to spend.

Suggestions on DVD/CD and other speaker systems?

You need to bring something that you are really familiar with so you can hear the difference. If you are not familiar with the music it is tough to tell the difference.

Take that familiar CD and go listen to as many speakers as you can with it.

Same thing with a DVD, make sure you know the audio section really well. I have listened to the LOTR cave troll fight a million times on my system so that is what I would bring along.

If you do a lot of listening before you buy you will not have to be "talked out of Bose" as you will immediatly be offended by the lifeless sound coming out of them!
