I'm in need of an amplifier for my home theatre, but being new to the market, I have absolutely no idea where to start. What would be a good manufacturer, or maybe even a specific amplifier that would suit my requirements?

You might get more responses if this was posted in the Audio forum. You also need to specify what speakers you're driving and how much you want to spend. A speaker's efficiency will determine how much power you'll need (larger speaker doesn't always mean more power)...
