Well don't get me wrong. I really do LOVE the projector but just was a little surprised at the artifacting. Its no big deal. Last question: Does Satellite fix this?
So its not the projector? This is a real dissappointment in HDTV. What good is it if it's beautiful watching nature scenes but lousy watching action? The artifacts are so bad that I would rather watch a regular broadcast. Is there anything I can do about it?
Yesterday I received my much researched HDTV projector, the Panasonic PT-L500U. I noticed while watching the HDTV Olympics (on Comcast) during the 10M Diving competition, I could see the diver “pixelating” while they were free falling. So they would kind of blur with little squares then they...
hummm, you may have a point about the light in the room. I think I can darken the skylights (with just black paper I assume?) but the other light is going to be a little more tricky.
Yesterday I went to the "Good Guys" store to steal some ideas on their screens. The screen in the HT room was something like $3,000 and had a 4:3 electronic pull down! But something the sales guy did really got me to thinking. The display was a white screen but he had a little square sample...
Hey there, I am building a 16:9 screen but I’m looking for a formula so I know how to measure the screen. Essentially, I’d like a 100” screen but I’m confused on the measurements. I know I should have paid attention in 9th grade math class. So much for the saying, “I’ll never use this junk”.
ya, i saw a thread here of someone who did that. very tempting. i'm basically a computer geek and not too handy with the tools but i might try.. great suggestion.
I went with the Panasonic PT-L500U LCD projector. What kind of screen should I be considering? Recently I went to Circuit City and saw the absolute coolest screen. It was 16:9 with thick black boarders but also had an electric switch to pull down a 4:3 boarder. But I don’t know if it was the...
I thought about the Sanyo too but I don't have as much confidence in the brand. Not that its bad but I have never had a Sanyo product. From the reviews I found, it sounds like the Panny and the Sanny are almost identical in terms of quality and features. Except maybe the Sanyo edges out the...
Yeah, you're all right. This is just a matter of perspective. I guess the other way to look at it is: It's just the way it is for the time being. So I'm going to sit back, and fire up Raiders of the Lost Ark in this baby....
Great perspectives. Thanks. We plan on using it as a normal TV then. Someone asked about why a pj versus a regular TV. Actually, we were ready to pull the trigger on a Sony 42" Plasma (had it in the shopping cart on a web site) but I decided to wait.) We have this huge white wall in our living...
So I decided on the Panasonic PT-L500U. Placed on order today. I specifically chose this model for the DVI input and the native resolution. Then when I called Comcast to order the HDTV service, I was told that their cable boxes (Motorola 6200) only support component interface into the HDTV unit...
So I've already asked the question about the Panasonic PT-L500U versus a lower cost option (the InFocus X1). Then I thought, I might as well look the other direction too. So I started to research the Benq PE8700+. As an aside, this investment is supposed to last me 10+ years. My current TV is a...
Ya, the bulb replacement cost was part of the question. These puppys are costly. The other part of the question had to do with location. Since I don't have a "dedicated" HT space in my home, I may have to use the projector as the TV display so I wondered what others do.
Does any know of a specialty store in the Seattle area? I live on the Eastside (Bellevue / Redmond near a little software company run by a funny looking rich dude ;))
This is an embarrassing question but for those of you with a projector, is that also used as your normal TV display or is it just used to watch movies in HDTV and DVD? Or do you have a regular TV for that?
Hey Jim - so that's exactly what I've done and one of the reasons why I'm a little confused. :b But I've been reading a ton about these. When I read about the X1, I walk away and say WOW, this is great! Then I read about the Panasonic and says, WOW, this is great! That is why I am seeking people...
OK – I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on the Panasonic PT-L500U (I even had it in a shopping cart @ Dell.com) but someone much smarter than me (that would be everyone on this forum) got me to thinking about something. I have what I consider a pretty low-end HT. We will be watching HDTV...
Thanks Joseph - you bring up some excellent points. I wish I could just see these things side by side but I dont know where I could do that. Do you happen to know if the InFocus has DVI input? I also wondering if either option would be "just fine" for our purposes. Basically, we're going to have...
Yes I did consider the InFocus. In fact, I started out with that one in my target zone. I found the Panasonic by mistake. I have a low end InFocus right now and have never owned a Panasonic product. I thought that the higher resolution on the Panasonic would be of greater value than the DLP on...
Hi there - my first post in this form. Looks like a great place to hang out. I have been researching for almost 18 months on the HT that I'd like to build. I already have the DVD, Receiver, Kiplisch speakers, etc. I going to go with a projector. It appears that the Panasonic PT-L500U is the way...
