How much did aesthetics play into your speaker choice?

Good question. For me it was easiest to go with black ash for the front and center and whites for the dipoles. We live in a generic new cookie cutter house in Overland Park, KS suburbs and since we are rather transient with my job, it is a compromise. The white dipoles match our painted white...

    Old Pioneer AV Receiver Info

I have been married to my wife about 5 years and along with her came a Pioneer VSX-405 Audio Video stereo receiver. Does anyone know a website where I can check the power, channels, and other information on this old beast? We are upgrading our home theater and not sure it will be adequate...

    NAD 763 vs. 773

Do to the intensive nature of this forum, I was wanting to get some advice relative to purchasing a 763 or 773? Clearly, I understand the NAD 773 is 7.1 vs. 6.1 for the 763. Also, the wattage is increased by 10 watts per channel. Does anyone have an opinion on this? The 773 is about a $300...

    Paradigm Magne-Shield?

When purchasing a set of 40's or 100's paradigm speakers, how important is for them to be Magne shield? And, if they are not, how close can the be to the television? I have always heard speakers should be 8' to 10' apart. Also, are the new LDC televisions impacted like a tube television...

    NAD T763 vs.NAD T773 questions?

Could someone please explain to me the difference. T763 is 6 channels X 100 Watts and 7.1 . T773 is 7 channels X 110 watts and 7.1 So what does this mean? The 773 send 100 watts to the subwoofers? If so, I would already have a powered subwoofer and it doesn't need to send anything but a...

    Harman K AVR7200 vs. NAD T763?

Does anyone have a comparison or opinion between these two surround receivers? I think the HK as an automatic speaker setup via a mike in the remote as opposed to the NAD with manual speaker setup. Wondering about power comparison, quality, and etc. Thanks

Paradigm Studio 100's Mid Range Question???

Auditioned the P100 V3's today. I would agree they are brighter compared to the B&W equivalent. I liked the 100's sound better. But, then again, 20 yrs ago I really liked Klipsch due to the highs. Also, if you get in my Yukon, you will find the treble and bass buried to the "right."

    Looking For Some Speaker Advice!!!

I auditioned the Paradigm monitor 100's V3's today and the comparable B&W. Wow, I really liked the brightness of the paradigm. To me (my opinion only) the B&W sounded more midtoneish (I don't think this is a word) but the Para's were brighter. The cost of the 100's were $1830. ;)

    Center channel speaker recommendations

I am in the process of acquiring a new home theater component system. How important is the quality of the center channel? It seems from all of the internet readings and research that about 85% of all surround theater sound goes thru this specific speaker. So, it seems logical one would certainly...

    New System Advice

I am currently planning on acquiring a complete new system to listen to home movies and good music. A few things have changed from the eqipment we used 20 yrs. ago when I was in college swing choir (Carver amps, 4'Klipschhorns,and etc.). Our director was a complete audiophile and we always had...
