I just returned my Studio 40's today because they were a little shrill at louder volumes in my room. I haven't been able to audition the Stratus line yet, but am interested in the Stratus Bronze. Sihan, how would you characterize male vocals and midbass on the Stratus line? I'v read posts from a...
I had the 310 for about 5 months and the processor went out. H/K replaced it with a 320 which I've had now for about a month and so far it has shut down on me once when the AC kicked on. I would say the quality at least on their receivers is questionable. I wouldn't buy one without a full warranty.
My preference is about 50/50. I like music with a lot of punch, energy and dynamics. The amps listed above are really nice, but over my budget. I have set aside $500, so I will be going the used route and I was thinking something along the lines of a Parasound 855 or Sherwood 9080. So, can...
You're right Nico, here's the response I received from Polk: Hello, Thank you for your interest in our LSi series speakers. It is not really a matter of the LSi 7's having enough output capability, it is a matter of giving them enough power to be able to reach the high volume levels you...
I haven't been able to audition these yet, but was wondering how the LSI 7 would do in a 14x17 room pushed by an 65wpc H/K 320? Low end will be handled by my SVS 25-31. Would it have enough output to fill my room with loud clean sound or would I need to step up to the LSI 9? Also, does anyone...
Hey Leo, I had a similar problem with my H/K 310. The video pass through at times wouldn't work. At first, unplugging the unit for an hour or more would correct the problem, but it continually got worse until the pass through would no longer work. It's still under warranty, so I put it in the...
Unfortunately, I have seen lot of negative comments on audioreview.com about H/K build quality. At least for their receivers anyway. Hopefully the problem won't get any worse and I can avoid putting it in the shop. As far as a ground problem, isn't there a device that can be plugged into a wall...
Yesterday when I got home from work I turned on my system to find out I wasn't getting a picture on my tv, only a blue display. I have a dvd player as well as UTV routed through my receiver to my TV and neither would display video although the audio was working fine. Also the on screen display...
QUOTE]I wouldn't pay much attention to efficiency ratings. They are useful as a rough guide to help calculate how much amplifier power you will need to achieve Dolby reference levels (or some level a known amount below that). But, they don't mean anything at all in terms of comparing the quality...
On the Paradigm website, two sensitivity ratings are listed for their speakers. Anechoic and in-room. Which rating should I be looking at when comparing to other brands? Trying to determine how sensitive the Studio 20's are compared to other speakers.
The Titus sound like something I would like to listen to, but I couldn't find a dealer locator on their website. I'm also happy to report that through calibration and tweaking, I'm getting the BA VR950's I'm auditioning to sound more like what I want. Still could use a little more punch and bite...
Okay, I'm looking for some mains under $600 hundred a pair with at least 90 db sensitivity. A powerful, dynamic speaker that can rock. I like for guitars to be loud and thick with a little bit of a bite My listening room is 17 by 14 and the speakers will be driven with a H/K 310. Low end is...
Yes, I'm using an H/K 310 receiver along with a PE 250 plate amp and SVS 25-31. Mostly want to know how to calibrate my sub for Dolby Digital movies on Direct TV.
OK, I was able to calibrate my sub easily enough for my DVD's. But how do I calibrate different input sources and surround modes? The bass output through the optical on my Ultimate TV seems weak compared to DVD's and CD's. Also, different surround modes such as logic 7 and 5 channel stereo seems...
Thanks for the replies.
Actually, I haven't put a lot of thought into the design of an enclosure yet as I wasn't sure which way the amp should be mounted. What I would like to do is build something similar in size to a stereo receiver and mount the amp on top. I would leave the back open for...
Hello everyone!
I recently purchased a PE250 to power my SVS. At the moment, I'm testing it and just have it lying in my stereo rack with the heatsink facing up and parallel to the shelf it's on. At loud volumes, it runs quite hot and has even shut off once. As of yet, I have not calibrated my...
