Hi Tony! I've been researching projectors for some time now and I have finally decided on the Epson HC6500UB. Now, not every projector is going to be perfect for all owners. The decision is really up to you, but I'll tell you why I decided on the Epson. First off, all the reviews I have read...

    Not buying Onkyo any more

I'm gonna have to step in and vouch for Yamaha here. I've owned Onkyos and Sonys over the years, but my last two receiver purchases have been Yamaha. Both are still running strong in their respective setups and one is the flagship RX-V1 which comes with a 5 year warranty from the factory. The V1...

Help me with Sony DVPCX995V please.

Thaaaaaaat's a bummer! I too have the 995V and I've had it for a little over a year now. I have never once had an issue with losing the disc titles, but I have heard of numerous people who have. Why Sony would make a 400 disc changer and have no memory back up is beyond me, but apparently is the...

My Rant: XM Radio's greatly diminished sound quality. What to do?

Ron- I agree with you. Would it be a bad idea if XM took a new direction by focusing its selling point on the overall quality of their programming and not so much the quantity? I don't think so. I too have been an XM subscriber for almost 3 years now. I started with the original SkyFi...

audio sync problem with digital cable?

Hello, I am using Charter Digital Cable here in Saint Louis, and I recently upgraded to their "s-video" box by Motorola. This particular unit adds both coax and toslink digital outputs. My problem is that whenever I use either of these connections to my Yamaha RX-Z1 receiver, it displays...

Just to let everyone know, the RX-Z1 comes with a 2 year warranty. Not the 5 year. That's a bunch of crap for a $3200 receiver.

    is my RX-Z1 done for?

Earlier today I sat down to watch "elimidate" that I had TiVo'd a couple of nights ago. I press the button to power on my system and things start to power up, but my RX-Z1 comes on for about 5 seconds and then it shuts off. Naturally, I tried it a few more times, but only ended up with the same...

    my receiver keeps shutting off...why?

The problem is not running the SVS into the powered towers. The SVS has a line out and this is going to the LFE in on one of the towers, and again from the line out on the first tower to the lfe in on the second tower. I am merely passing along the bass signal to each amp.

    my receiver keeps shutting off...why?

I have a Yamaha RX-Z1 receiver paired up with two polk Lsi25 fronts and a 16-24 SVS PC Plus subwoofer. I have the sub output on the receiver running into the SVS, out of the SVS to the 10" powered sub on one of the towers, out of that tower and to the other tower's powered sub. When I play...

    WTB: Non-working DVD player

That's right. I'm not crazy or anything, but I need some parts out of a DVD for a project I'm taking on. I'm not particular about make/model, but I do require that the unit has a coax. digital output, an optical digital output, and an s-video output. Again, I need a player that doesn't work...

    Buying my first Laserdisc player

If you absolutely need an ac-3 output there is a "how to" site that tells how to mod most laserdisc players to add a digital or ac-3 output. Of course, it'll cost a little extra for parts and you need to know how to operate a soldering iron. I took the optical output transmitter out of my...

    Could someone explain RS-232 ports?

I don't understand how these ports work. I hear they are used for remote control of other units and I know I have one on my receiver, DVD player, CD player, and electic projection screen. How would I use the connection to its ability with these components? Thanks, TJ

FS: LD player, rf demodulator, amplifier

James, the sdp-e800 takes an AC-3 RF signal, demodulates it, and outputs it as a digital bitstream to your receiver via an optical output. That is the only type of output on the unit besides the 6 channel analog outputs to a 5.1 ready receiver.
