    Help me choose?

Thanks for the suggestions. I really like the looks of the 550's (and higher models). But they might be too big for my setup, along with the large size of the center that matches. I am leaning towards a setup the uses the rocket elt cse's all around with a new powered base speaker that gives a...

    two bookshelf speakers as center?

OK, ordered 4 bookshelves to match. Good deal at 69 bucks a pair shipped and no tax. I needed two for rear surrounds and one or two for center. Could I not put the two bookshelves on the sides with the tweeters closest to each other? So effectively I would have from left to right. woofer -...

    two bookshelf speakers as center?

Thanks for the clear explanation of the parallel vs series. The two mains are towers. So using the exact speaker might be a problem. They are shielded, so I could theoretically put one on top laying on its side. Would that be a workable situation? I notice that most center speakers put...

    Tuning a Sony SAWM40

    So if you take the offsets and apply them to my numbers you can get a much flatter response 20hz - 52db + 7db = 59db 25hz - 70db + 5db = 75db 30hz - 70db + 3db = 73db (estimate) 35hz - 79db + 3db = 82db (estimate) 40hz - 85db + 2.5db = 87.5db The 2.5 meter distance reading is even...

    Tuning a Sony SAWM40

Manuel, I was thinking the same thing. I noticed a very large difference when moving the meter around the room. Especially at the lower end of things. It made a huge difference. Sometimes 5-10db or more.

    Tuning a Sony SAWM40

20hz was 57db. I could not feel or hear it :frowning: One thing to note for me is that if I played 40hz over 85db my mitsubishi tv would rattle. Should I be worried for normal movie watching would you expect to hit 85db in those ranges? Thanks. --pat

    I have burn in! :(

I wonder how long it will be until tv's come out with some sort of active protection from these stupid logos? Something like having a moveable box to fuzz out and change the logo area. Sort of like the pnp box. I suppose that also would be a good way to stop burn in if you have to watch a...
