Group,

Very new to 16:9 wide screens and I have a question. My setup is a Mitsubishi 55413 55 inch ws RP using a Panasonic s35 DVD player connected via component and using progressive scan. Some dvd's when played take up the whole screen, but others like Lord of the Rings Two Towers leave black bars on the top and bottom. Is this normal? Is there some setting on the tv or the dvd player that I should be using to get rid of the black bars? I am using the standard mode on the TV.

Thanks

Greetings

You need to read the Beginner's primer on DVD / Theater aspect ratios.

Some films are shot at 1.85:1 and others are 2.35:1.

The TV is 1.78:1.
