Greetings folks, Been a while since I've posted on this site. Basically, I'm looking to add a Blu-Ray player and hoping to spend no more than $500.00. I wouldn't mind picking up a PS3 for the task, but I'm hearing mixed reviews...some say it's great, and some say it's better suited for...
On my Pioneer 24TX, when you had the proper set up, you could go into THX mode, and you'd actually see the THX logo light up on the front pannel of the 24TX. The 45TX is also THX Select, but I'll be darned if I can select the THX mode....I certainly don't see the THX logo light up on my 45TX...
Well, I ran the callibration routine...pretty neat! I was pretty happy with the front channels. It knocked my sub to -8db...way too low for my preferences...I kicked it back up to +1 db...:D I need to sample some additional source material to see if I'm happy with the rear channel...
Hunh...what do you know! There was indeed a mirophone in the box...it was in with the FM antanea....didn't think anything else was there... :b I'm tinking with it now and will report back...THANKS GUYS!!!!
Had to replace my refirbed 24tx which I got about 4 years ago (sob). Guess I won't buy refirb again... This is a $1400.00 list receiver which I got online for $840.00 delivered. Not great, but not bad. I set it up last night so I'm just begining to break it in. The remote that came with...
I wouldn't mind spending a couple of hundred on a good region free player so I can order some TV series DVDs not available in the US. Any suggestions? I have a primary DVD player, so as long as the region free unit is progressive and can pass a DTS signal, I'm happy.
I'm hoping that I'm wrong, but it looks like Kenwood Sovereign and Sony make the only decent progressive scan megachangers. However, but have issues which prevent me from buying. Anyone have any info on players which might be coming out in the next year in this category? Thanks!
Interesting thread.
Just today I read that Sony has a 300 + 1 PROGRESSIVE scan DVD player for $500.00 coming out this summer (June I believe.) Sony DVP-CX875P. NOTE: don't even bother looking on sonystyle.com for info (Sony's pretty bad about not putting up info on future models).
I was...
As far as tomorrow's installation, I do not have a NIC in my PC right now. From what I understand, Time Warner will install a simple Ethernet card in my PC. Hopefully my next post to this forum will be via a cable modem connection! :D
Thanks to all for your input!

Did a little searching on buy.com and found this product. Think this will work? The EtherFast Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router provides the ideal solution for connecting your wireless network to a high-speed broadband Internet connection and a 10/100 Fast Ethernet backbone. Configurable as a DHCP...
Daren - thanks so much for your speedy reply! Can you recommend a wireless router? I'm a bit concerned with potential latency issues...should I be? You mention an "NIC" - What's that? (pardon my ignorance but I know little about networking).

Greetings,
I'm hoping to get some advice!
Time Warner is coming out tomorrow to install Roadrunner Cable Modem service to my PC. I'd like to also have the same connectivity to my Xbox, located on the other side of my living room.
Could I use some sort of wireless hub or router for this...
I'm in a pretty good position. I ordered season 1 from Amazon with a $25.00 off coupon. Once it ships, I will compare B&M prices to online preorder prices and make a decision on subsequent seasons.
I don't know if I'm a big enough fan to order EVERY season. Any folks out there planning on...
OK, on E-Bay, I bought a cable with the following description:
THUNDER CABLE 6' DIGITAL COAX VIDEO CABLE NEW
The description goes on to say that this digital coax cable can be used for either audio or video.
What I got looks to be what I call a standard RCA video cable, not a digital...

Haven't seen what exactly will be on the Justice League DVD - will it have the whole first season on it or just the first establishing episodes?
Also, has any pricing info been released on any of these Batman/Superman/JLA DVDs?
Best,
I live in a Ranch style condo (3 bdr, 2 bath) that has one unit attached to mine. I've never heard one complaint from the little old lady in the condo next door. I'm convinced she's either EXTRMELY tollerant, or simply deaf. :)
I only have a Klipsch KSW-12 so that may be a factor - I doubt...
Ron,
I'm holding out for an error free mega changer progressive DVD/SACD/DVD-A player that's under $1000.00. I figure that may be upwards of 2 years away, maybe less. Until that time, my Sony 700P will hold me just fine. I'd maybe look at your upgrade path as to whether or not you want to...
Ron,
As a 4 month long owner of the 700P, I really appreciated seeing your review! Did you happen to check out any of my comments on the unit when considering the purchase?
I took a lot of criticism from the RP91 fans around here for my choice. I found a lot of their criticism died down...
I just wanted to give a "shout out" to the KSW-12, which I own. At 440 Watts, it's plenty loud and I don't think you'll get noticably better performance until you step up to the SVS arena. And, it can be had for under $300.00. Do audition it if you get the chance!

John...
I've had my Quintet set for a couple of months now. I got them from an E-Tailer who advertised on E-Bay - $300.00, and I also purchased the Klipsch KSW-12 for $289.00.
I couldn't be happier. I think the set does a fantastic job for both movies and music, although I confess to using them much...
Carlo,
Methinks that the good Dr. paid considerably less than $300.00 for the 700P he owns as he used Sony card rebate points toward the purchase price, if memory serves....
Given the price point, I think the 700P _is_ the perfect player for right now, since none of the current crop of...
Keith - I suppose you're right - there have been a few vocal folks in the RP91 crowd who really go out of their way to trash the 700P for no reason, and my message is to them - the Shoot Out II article clearly points pluses and minuses in both players, but gives both players high regard.
