WHen reading the threads, it seems as if the US pricing of DVD's is higher than the Canadian pricing. I pay less than $24 Canadian (approx $15US) for most of my DVD's, and I just bought Monsters Inc this past weekend for $17.87 CDN ($11.59 US). Are we getting such a good deal up here (Shhhh...)...
Just bought a Sony KV32fs100, and the picture is a huge improvement over my 27" 12 year old Sony. Only problem seems to be a loud noise when the set is turned on. Dealer said it is no problem, but didn't really tell me what it was. Any ideas?
Thanks for the info. The centre channel has now been relocated, I had to put it higher (lower not an option), but have tilted it toward the listening area. Right now I have the DVD going through the receiver. Is there any disadvantages to not going through the receiver?
Just replaced my old old 27" TV with one of the new Sony 32" flatscreens, and want to ensure that I am correctly hooked up to my receiver and DVD player. I finally have both component and S video connections. I have a Toshiba DVD that has S video and Component out, and I have a Marantz 5200...
Played in a golf tournament with Bruce Greenwood (Thirteen Days, Double Jeopardy etc). He was great, real down to earth, and a pretty good actor. In the same tournament were Tom Poston, Norman Jewison, Norman Lear and others. I played in a "horserace" with David L. Wolper as my partner, one of...
Don't hear much about this brand these days. I was recently over at a relatives and they had a BEOSYSTEM 9500 I think. Looked sleek, sounded Ok, but I think the thing cost a fortune. Are they the Bose of Europe, or a legitimate brand these days?
Going on a trip shortly and am not sure if I should unplug my receiver and other equipment. It is a Marantz 5200. WIll it lose it's settings if unplugged for a couple of weeks? What is the danger if I leave it plugged in?
Not overly concerned about a small amount of "sexuality", but she can be afraid of "suspense" or scary stuff, or death, especially of the young (Pay it Forward), and the violence in Hearts in Atlantis. Some scary stuff is OK, when it is movie like...but suspense can be hard on a young-un. She...
We like to rent a movie or two on DVD on the weekend to watch as a family, my daugter is 8. We have struck out a couple of time recently...Hearts in Atlantis has a couple of intense scenes, and Pay it Forward had the disturbing ending. We own some of the naturals, TS 1 & 2, Shrek, Atlantis...
1. Citizen Kane: Considered by many to be the best movie ever, and here it is given great respect with a great transfer, super packaging and wonderful extras. The Roger Ebert commentary alone is worth the price.
2. Shrek: A joy for the kids and the adults. Great digital to digital transfer...
I have a Toshiba 2710 DVD and a Marantz 5200 (no problems), and I have a couple of DTS related questions. When a DVD has DTS, I like to listen to that audio choice. I make the correct choice on the DVD, and then select DTS on my receiver. There has never been any problems with the movie it...
