Tweeter is what they are. Good equipment, the salesmen generally have a decent idea of what they are selling, but don't expect them to compete on price.
Sound Advice isn't a bad store. The main store has several very knowledgeable folks and they will sometimes undersell Tweeter, Innovative Systems has very nice equipment but seem to have gone more for the Custom Install rather than routine sales.
Most of the rest of the stores are the Big Box stores (Best Buy, Circuit City, Queen City, etc).
If you want to drive a bit further TriCity Electronics in Hickory/Conover I find is a very nice store with a surprising broad range of equipment from basic Sony/Pioneer up to full blown Barco/Marantz front projectors. Stereo/Video (may have changed their name these days to and American Audio in Greenville SC aren't that far away and offer some other variety.
