I use JBL Arena Venue bookshelf speakers in my room with a Velodyne DPS-12 subwoofer, powered by a harman/kardon HK3485
since my bedroom is hella small, like 9ft x 7ft
For music downstairs I have some huge floor speakers from the 70's n 80's :P

Canton's throughout the house.
Mostly Ergo's (towers, in-walls and on-walls) and some THX S-10's.
I have a dedicated 7.1 theater. The rest are in my bedroom 7.1 theater.
Since I can't post the link, goto the Audioholics "Member System Gallery" and look up "The Loser Cinema"

KEF egg speakers. It's a small room.

Strongly recommended if you aren't obsessed by bass and like a very detailed sound, or if the room acoustics (or neighbours on the other side of the partition wall) can't cope with too much bass.

Mains: Carver Amazing Platinum
Center: Infinity
Surrounds: Athena/Energy (2 pairs)
Dedicated Sub: currently disconnected - instead, using ButtKicker LFE units, one for each couch. I get enough bass from the Carver's to keep bass balanced in my living room.

I still love my Carvers - they're a pain to get set up, but once done, I'm still loving them for music and film. I haven't moved from my humble apartment a block from Stanley Park and 3 blocks from the ocean in the West End of Vancouver, BC in 15 years, so having something as large as they are isn't an issue.

I bought the ButtKickers to give my downstairs neighbour respect for her space - I rarely miss the *big* bass sound; the 'Butts' provide a wonderful tactile experience.

I installed Aura bass-shakers on the bed frame for a similar effect; have 5.1 in the bedroom.

Just picked a free pair of EPI Magnus CD60's from my neighbor, free. They need a little work but they should work out fine for my 2 channel system in my bedroom.

And I still have my Altec Lancing A-7's that need to be refinished really bad.
