Watched Neverending Story blu yesterday. Not sure but I think it's a 2013 release. I was thinking about its 4k potential but I dunno...it's loaded with dense process shots and all those swirling smoke effects. Might look worse in 4k. This old blu itself looks pretty good though.

I don't even love the movie, but I bought this to support great restoration work!
Well done Arrow!
Wonder what this looks like compared to the Kino release (supposedly they used the same master, but because Arrow's compression/encoding was different, some elements are a bit different -- there is, apparently, a "tighter grain structure" on the Arrow release).

The Arrow is much better.
Here you can see comparisons (I found this in the other forum):

MUCH better?

From what I am reading, the differences have more to do with a "tighter grain structure" and other elements related to compression/authoring -- most of which isn't discernable on television-sized displays, especially at the distance most are sitting.

I'll check out the comparisons in the link provided, though -- thanks for that. I am unsure if it's worth selling my Kino release for it, given that it's a title I got interested in more recently in my life (believe it or not).

Edit: I've actually seen that comparison site, though when I click on it, I only see an extremely zoomed-in image from the Kino disc -- is there something else I need to click on to compare it to the Arrow?

This kind of zoomed-in extreme example, though, doesn't really convince me -- sure, if you're pixel-peeping, you may be able to see the difference in compression, but from a normal seating distance not zoomed-in, I'm not sure how much this matters.

Also, from what I have gathered, Arrow and Kino used the exact same master, it's just that Arrow -- as stated above -- utilized a different compression technique.
