Hey guys, so I have a question on how to hook up a subwoofer to my system.

Longish story short, my dad got a free subwoofer for his home theater system after he had some company install the system. They gave him the new subwoofer after they had installed everything, so he brought back the old one, and hauled the new one home. Unfortunately they didn't give him any of the cords for the new one, and we only had 1 power cord, and 1 other cord left from the old one.....and the connecting cord didn't work.

So my question, how do I hook up this new sub to the receiver? And what cords do I need? Also, will I have to reprogram anything to get the sub to work?

Receiver: Marantz SR7002 THX Select2 Surround Receiver (Marantz America | SR7002 THX® Select2 Surround Receiver)
Subwoofer: Martin Logan ESL Depth i
The Speakers are made by Monitor Audio (not sure if this matters or not...)

Here's a picture of the back side of the sub: http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/7898/subwooferback.jpg
(the red and black cord thats in the middle of the picture is the one that was left over from the old sub)

Not sure if you need these, but here you go

Hi James - Welcome to HTF!

All you really need to do is run an RCA cord to the blue "LFE In" jack on the back of the sub. Insert the other end into an RCA jack on the back of the receiver that says "LFE out" or "SUBWOOFER OUT".

Then turn the volume/intensity on the sub up to about 50%.

Go into the receiver menu and find the speaker setup area. You want to set:

- Subwoofer to YES
- All speakers to SMALL

This will force the receiver to send the ".1" track and all low frequency sounds to the subwoofer.

There are other things to do to get the sub to produce 80 db when the speakers are at 75 db - but that can wait. Just get it hooked up and play something to make sure the sub is doing it's job.
