How would you set output, by DVD or Receiver ? (1 Viewer)

Greetings, If my Sony DVD DVP-S5600 has full DD setup for my speaker system and so does my new JVC RX-8030V receiver, does one become priority over the other for speaker settings, size, distance etc. The Sony DVD player and the JVC can both decode DD. How do set them? I love this JVC, I just bought it for Christmas. Plenty of "bells and whistles" for tweaking, sounds amazing I'm new to this HT and sometimes I forget I'm watching a movie and get lost in the great sound.

The receiver's settings will apply if you connect the player by a digital connection (optical or coax). The player's settings will be bypassed.
