The 4% PAL speed-up is imperceptible to almost everyone. I have several films on both Region 1 and Region 2 DVDs and I don't notice any difference between even them!

Bearing in mind that the people most likely to notice the speed-up are musicians whose trained ears might - just might - perceive a minute difference in pitch caused by the speed-up, the fact that musicians in Europe do not complain about the PAL effect suggests that those who make such a fuss about it are deluding themselves. A tiny minority of people with freakishly acute sensitivity might notice the speed-up, but the average movie-lover can purchase Region 2 DVDs without misgivings.

Geez, OK, let's not worry about Pal speedup cause it's only 4% and many won't even notice. Let's not worry about colorizing old black & white films, cause most people won't even realize it wasn't originally in black & white. Let's not worry about pan & scan, cause hell, you still see most of the picture, and most people would never know the difference. Let's not worry about music replacement, cause how the hell would most people know what the original music was anyway? They won't notice and they won't care, so it's no problem. Let's not worry about syndicated versions of tv shows on dvd, cause most people will never know or notice that any scenes have been cut out, and it's just as good anyway.

Sorry, you guys can do what you want, but I'll wait for non-sped up region 1 versions of any and all films or tv shows I want to ever see. No pan & scan, no edited/syndicated versions, no music replacement and no pal speedup ever. Not with my hard-earned cash.

I've got well over 1900 films and tv shows on dvd that are uncut, OAR and without Pal speedup, and I'll happily watch those while waiting for correct versions of things that are only available currently in butchered versions.

Hello, Frisco, Hello (43)
Hit the Deck (55)
Holiday Affair (49)
Houdini (53)
It Happened in Brooklyn (47)
Lady Be Good (41)
Major and the Minor, The (42)

I'm still waiting for The World, the Flesh & the Devil from Warner Bros. I was hopeful they would release it if only to tie it into the success of I Am Legend. Also, still waiting for the special edition of The Road Warrior they promised us 2 years ago. I need a widescreen version of Frantic. I'd like to see that mythical extended version of The NeverEnding Story I keep hearing about. From Paramount I'd like to pick up A Crack In the World. For some reason MGM is still sitting on The Stepfather and Death Ship. They seem to be hit or miss. Last year they released a boatload of cult flicks, all good stuff. This year we only got 2 titles and they were both re-issues. Universal, please give us widescreen (at the very least) copies of Death Becomes Her and IceMan.
Seriously, what could possibly be preventing this studio from doing right by these. I don't understand.

I Dream Of Jeannie: 15 Years Later (Barbara Eden)
The Stepford Children (Barbara Eden)
