I have a configuration question. Here's my setup in generic terms:

Cable ---> Receiver - via Composite (wait-listed by cable co. for HDMI box)

Receiver ---> TV - via HDMI

Blu-ray ---> Receiver - via HDMI

Currently, in order for me to listen to the regular cable broadcast, I must have my Receiver on and set to CBL/SAT.

The speakers on the TV automatically "mute" when the Receiver is on.

Is there a way to "skip" the requirement of having my Receiver on in order to have sound when watching TV?

Regards,

Jim P.

Just turn on tv and nothing else.

You may need to run another connection from cable box, straight to tv, such as component or s-video for video, and red & white analog audio cables for audio.

Why would anyone rather listen to tv speakers? I just don't get it..........

I almost always listen to TV shows via my TV speakers. Most of the time the sound is crappy anyway, so why listen on better speakers to enhance the 'crappyness'.

I never listen to tv on the tv's speakers. Even crap sounds better through my other speakers than my tv's speakers " everytime you turn on the tv!

Yeah, using the Dolby Pro Logic IIx setting, I listen to my tv in 7.1 surround. Some of it sounds very good, especially some commercials.......

Nah, my Axioms are better behaved than that. They know if they don't stay in line they will be replaced with some nice B&W 800 series.
