BURBANK, CA (January 11, 2024) – A heartfelt celebration of the magic of Disney, and a joyful new entry to the studio’s animated film legacy, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wish will soon be available for families to enjoy at home. Fans can enjoy a sing-along movie version, never-before-seen bonus features and deleted scenes when the film becomes available from all major digital retailers including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Vudu on January 23 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD March 12.

A heartwarming and magical story, Wish has been described as “Wondrous” (Sabina Graves, Gizmodo), “Enchanting” (Kristen Lopez, The Wrap) and “more than a film. It’s a love letter to the art of dreaming and the power of hope” (Kevin Fenix, The Illuminerdi).

Film Synopsis
In this animated musical-comedy, Asha, a sharp-witted idealist in the kingdom of Rosas, makes a powerful wish that’s answered by Star, a ball of boundless energy. Soon, Asha and Star must face a formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas—to save her community and prove that when one brave human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things happen.

Well...I've got to admit that steelbooks looks very nice.

Unfortunately, the movie that it will hold is absolute garbage. This is the worst movie I saw last year. So I'll pass.

While I felt this was underwhelming overall, the animation and visual design are quite lovely. Worth pointing out that it was 2.55:1 theatrically.

The press release has to be incorrect. I would be shocked if the disc is anything other than 2.39:1.
Disney's press releases have often been incorrect with regards to aspect ratio. IMDB lists this film as 2.55:1, so actually I would be shocked if the disc wasn't 2.55:1. After all, the studio did release The Creator in it's odd 2.76:1 aspect ratio.

Yes. It will be what the original aspect ratio is. I only wrote 2.39 because that's what the press release says the digital version is. I don't think there is any reason to believe that Disney will screw up this release. They absolutely screwed up the movie itself, but the disc should be fine.

Planned to get the 4K through DMC but they don't have it, so Walmart is the only game in town.

Ordered Monday and they "attempted delivery" Tuesday but claimed it couldn't be delivered.

Why? No idea - they wouldn't tell me.

Rather than try again, they cancelled my order, so I needed to submit a SECOND order.

Which came the same day - yay!

Which wasn't "Wish" 4K - it was "Marvels" BD - what the frick?

Contacted customer support AGAIN and they resubmitted.

Was told I'd have to send back the "Marvels" BD - slightly annoying because I strongly suspect Amazon or Target would've just said "sorry for the mess-ups, bro - keep it", but fine.

Put in request for USPS mailing label - they gave me FedEx label instead.

Contacted "support" AGAIN and was told they couldn't change this. Why? No idea - they wouldn't tell me.

I explained FedEx is considerably more of a hassle and at one point thought the agent said not to bother to ship "Marvels" back.

When I asked for clarification, I got sent to a "supervisor"... and went through the whole discussion again.

Was told at the end: yeah, you gotta send it back, and no, we won't change to USPS even though that's what we promised in the first place.

So I've wasted time just trying to get the item WM should've sent in the first place - and I still don't have it! Supposed to arrive tomorrow but who knows what will happen?

Dunno if WM is always this awful, but I plan to avoid them like the plague from now on.

I suspect all of this is the world trying to do you a favor, and prevent you from watching Wish. ;)

Would have been easier to just go to the store. I saw this on the shelf in my Walmart last night.

The 4K was sold out on the WM website for weeks. When it popped up over the weekend, I didn't want to take a chance that it wouldn't be found at a local store.

Besides, how in the world was I supposed to know this whole thing would turn into such a catastrophe?

Seriously - you're blaming me for not having the psychic ability to realize Walmart's web operation is a disaster?

Update: "Wish" 4K came today.

Twice.

That original copy they said couldn't be delivered and would be cancelled? No - they sent it out again, so I got 2 separate copies at the same time.

And of course they charged me for both.

Given the uselessness of the online chat, I called them this time.

Got a refund for one of them and was told I don't have to send back the extra or "Marvels".

Do I believe this is the end of it? No. I fully expect they'll demand I send back the extra and "Marvels" even though I asked the rep 3 times if I understood correctly.

But we'll see.

What a disaster.

Does your local Walmart not take back website returns? I thought that was a Walmart thing to though some local managers apparently disagree and won't do it despite Corporate Policy

They probably do, but have you ever actually attempted to return anything to a Walmart location? There's always roughly 827 people in line. You need to bring a meal because you'll be there all day! :D

Anyway, I kinda feel like "you could go to the store!" for any part of this misbegotten experience misses the point.

The point is that Walmart botched the job multiple times and made me jump through various hoops even though they're the ones who screwed up.

Oh man! Sorry, don't mean to belittle your terrible experience, but this reminds me of the Madame Web meme where it shows a car with a smashed window saying "I left tickets to Madame Web in my car and somebody broke in and left 2 more tickets."

Yeah, as mentioned, I saw "Wish" theatrically and didn't think much of it - I don't feel it's a terrible movie but it was meh at best.

The "Disney completist thing" runs strong in me, though! :)
