Needful Things is based upon a book by Stephen King, which means that it would be good guess that it takes place in and / or around a small town in Maine - Castle Rock.
There seem to be hundreds of these King films. Some very good, some less so, some, well...
Needful Things fits into that lesser category, and never rises above.
As a 4k UHD release from Kino, it looks fine. There's nothing particularly special about the cinematography, which is totally workmanlike. But there's nothing here that cries out for 4k.
Grain structure is in place. Color and densities are fine. I just wish the film was better.
For the true fan, there's a separate disc of the 191 minute TV cut, up-rezzed to HD.
Image – 9 (HDR10)
Audio – 5 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)
Pass / Fail – Pass
Plays nicely with projectors - Yes
Makes use of and works well in 4k - 7
Upgrade from Blu-ray - If you're a King fan
Worth your attention - 1
Slipcover rating - 2
