You know, I love your reply, Colin.

I felt the same way when I saw this on Amazon and put up this preorder.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a single title (maybe other than Star Wars) that has been milked and drained, then milked some more as much as Terminator 2.

It's a shame that the powers involved waste money developing crap like this when it would be much better spent redoing the film's transfer. I'd bet dollars to donuts that a 4K re-release with knock-your-socks-off video would generate far more revenue than this sure-to-be overpriced box of junk.

A region free 3D disc would make this worth getting, but it looks like everything is region B.

Because quite a few people here own region-free Blu-ray players?

C’mon Nelson. Keep up. ;)
Shirley.

Honestly, I really have not tried to keep up with current events of all the new permutations of T2 releases. I do have the last couple of blu rays, a version that’s been reviewed here on the HTF as the more decent version. Back in the day, I bought so many versions that in recent years, I stopped paying attention.

I do see a recent 4K release that I didn’t have the enthusiasm to buy due to the many releases. So if that recent 4K is decent and is said to have been supervised by Cameron himself, that sounds pretty promising. And I suspect that transfer is the same one used for this 30th Anniversary boxset. But honestly I have been holding back until there really is a spectacular 4K release. I haven’t seen T2 in a few years, would enjoy watching it again.

Adding to the never-ending nonsense, decent quality releases of The Abyss and True Lies continue to be M.I.A. Watching my old non-anamorphic DVDs on a modern TV set is like watching a window-boxed YouTube video. I guess we'll have 10 Avatar sequels before either of those movies gets a proper Blu-ray update.

Yeah, given up. Cameron has gone full Walter Kurtz into Pandora

I have the Terminator 2 - Judgement Day: Zavvi Exclusive 4K Ultra HD 30th Anniversary Endo Skull coming not because I need another Terminator movie but because it actually has something to collect and show off.

Unfortunately, although approved by Cameron, the recent 4K was heavily DNR'ed to remove almost any trace of grain. The assumption is that this was done for the 3D conversion and the problem carried through to the UHD release.

Studio Canal has confirmed that their new reissue will feature the same "restoration."

Thank you Josh for clarifying the Cameron approved 4K release. This is too bad. I suppose the general public would be happy with that 4K transfer and think nothing of the grain removal because it looks better because it’s 4K.

I guess I’ll wait longer to see T2.
