I've got a couple of laptops at work that I keep up with. One of which rarely every gets used (maybe 2 or 3 times a year). I set that machine up a password on the original administrator account, and I also set up a limited account.

For some reason I can't get into the admin account. I guess I've forgotten the password (been months since I've booted the thing), but I thought I had entered the same password for both machines. Guess not.

Anyway, the only access I have is through a limited account, so I can't access the part of the control panel I need to reset passwords.

Are there any utilities out there that can be used to reset passwords?

You may be able to access it by creating a Linux boot disk and modifying the registry. I tried it once.. but, our systems wont alow a boot from a linux disk. :frowning: But, it's worth a try:

Check out THIS SITE. There are other methods listed here as well.

The rest of the site is great too for all sorts of registry tips/tricks.
