so i was doing some work and took one of the side ss speakers down.
i laid it aiming up towards the ceiling, on the shelf after i put it back.
anyway i forgot to put it back the normal way and watched a movie with it pointing up.

it was noticable and may have sounded better.

so why shouldnt i aim the other one up and leave the that way?

If you think it sounds better I don't think anyone can ultimately argue with you.

If I'm not mistaking, aiming them up sends the sound towards the ceiling and directly towards the listener. You changed the soundfield by directing them upward. If it gives you better sound then leave it in place.

my thinking after hearing it was that it bounces the sound from the ceiling and disperses the sound better as opposed to just moving it straight out away from the wall

it's hard to know what "aiming" up means for a dipole, since it relies heavily on bouncing sound off of walls. what brand?
