Echostar designs their own hardware. The JVC badge is just used for the units they sell through Sears.

E* builds all their own hardware (or subs it out to companies like SCI).
The only box that had non-E* hardware was the 5500 DVHS recorder that was basically an E* made 5000 combined with a JVC made DVHS machine in one box.
Also the DishPlayer has a bunch of MS code in it, but it is E* hardware.
