Hobson, played by John Gielgud, in ARTHUR... was he Arthur's biological father? Or was he just the butler/personal servant who acted like a father? When Arthur tells the drunk "my father died, so I stayed sober," is Arthur speaking only metaphorically, or does he literally mean that Hobson was his biological father? When Hobson on his death-bed says to Arthur, "you've been a good son," again is that only metaphorical or literal?
