I've seen references recently on the web and in print to a Denon DVD-2800mkII DVD player. Current Denon print ads that also show the DVM-4800 DVD-Audio changer and AVR-4802 receiver show the '2800mkII. How is the '2800mkII different from the '2800? At first, I thought that maybe there was a firmware upgrade, but I have never seen a manufacturer change the model number just for a change in firmware. Did Denon make more substantial upgrades to this DVD player? Also, are newer players stamped 'DVD-2800mkII' on the front panel and/or do boxes say 'DVD-2800mkII'? In other words, if you went out and bought a 2800 today, how would you know which version you had? Thanks in advance.

* The mkII upgrades from the Sil503 to the Sil504 decoder

* 108MHz vs. 54MHz Video DAC (mkII DAC has a feature called Noise Shaped Video. The DVD-9000 has a link to a white paper on the NSV )

* That's all I can tell from the web site. It basically looks like the DVD-3800 w/o DVD-Audio.

Craig, thanks for the info. I imagine the 108-MHz video DAC could make a significant difference.
