I need your recommendations. I am looking for a new DVD player for under $200.00. Most important to me is video and progressive scan quality. Not as much concerned if it plays DVD-A or SACD or WMA's etc. Will be matched with either a 30" or 34" widescreen direct view TV. (Hopefully the 34" sony if the wife will let me). Also should I save 70.00 more dollars and get the samsung with the DVI output. Thanks in advance!

The top-rated picture quality is only on DVD players with a Faroudja or Silicon Image de-interlacer. The cheapest model with Faroudja is under $250 the Mitusubishi DD-8040 at Tweeter stores. Others are the Denon DVD-1600, DVD-910, DVD-1200, DVD-2200 - but these are $300-500. Only available used are the excellent Faroudja-based Panasonic RP82,XP30,XP50 in the $200-$300 range.

Bravo's have serious problems. I recommend getting a used top-rated Panasonic XP30 for around $200 thats what I did. It blows away all other cheaper models picture quality wise, its incredibly sharp and has the best de-interlacer, the top-rated Faroudja!
