I finally ordere untold legends. I like RPGs, and I figure it's something I can play for a while, put down, pick back up, etc. without committing to long play periods.
Lumines Twisted Metal Ridge Racers Gretsky Wipeout
I Have coming..
World Tour Soccer Tiger Woods MLB 2006
Of those games the only game I've been able to get online has been Gretsky, all other games have some form of errors trying to connect, the online portion of the PSP is definately off to a Rocky Start.
I have a 512 meg Card now I want to get a 1GB as soon as they are available.
The latter two were not available at either Best Buy in my area; luckily, Fry's had a couple RRs and tons of TW left.
I now have pretty much everything from the initial wave of releases I want.
The cool thing about games on the PSP is they seem to have much of the depth of their big console counterparts. Tiger Woods has the full "Game Face" feature which allows you to sculpt your onscreen character with amazing detail. I spent 20 minutes on that before even swinging a club! :b
I picked up Wipeout Pure (it rocks!) and Lumines, but I also want Ridge Racer, but it's totally sold out! Anyone know when there's a new shipment coming in?
What's the deal with this issue? Are the errors intermittent? Happening to everyone? Are their servers out there to support games or do you have to count on coincedental timing in order to link up with other players? I dont have an internet enabled game yet, but have successfully hit the network update piece from Sony and Wipeout download content screen as well via wi-fi. (BTW both, nothing available)
Yeah, what's up with the popularity of Ridge Racers that the PSP copy is hard to find? Me, I had to go all the way to Seattle to buy a copy, and even then I had to go to a Target since the BB I went to was all out of their allotment within 30 minutes.
I'm dying to play Wipeout Pure but, I think the price of the PSP is too high for me to play just one game. None of the others so far do anything for me. Although, I would definitely be interested in picking up a brand new Grand Theft Auto.
From what I've read, it's NOT the same one from the PS2.
I'm going to wait 'till there's more stuff to play. Maybe Sony will ease off that high price tag as well?
Only picked up Ridge Racer and Ape Escape so far. Probably will get Lumines soon. Ridge Racer is perfect in every way, all the tracks from all the games, graphics and audio are demo material for the PSP, short load times, and great gameplay. I love how you can shut the PSP off at any point in the game and when you power it back on, it starts right where you left off, no loading at all.
I was really looking forward to Ape Escape, but overall it's disappointing. The original games were great because of the great dual stick control scheme, but this version leaves me flat. Plus, the load times are quite long (I'd guess around 15 seconds), and occur quite often during the game.
Well I couldnt hold out any longer. I finally got one today. I saw it sitting in the display case at Wal-Mart and had to grab it. I bought Lumines for it and trying to think of what to get next. I looked for Metal Gear but they didnt have any. Tiger woods and one of the racing games looked good, but I figured $300 was enough for one day. The video quality on the Spiderman UMD was incredible, better than I thought it would have been. Our local Wal-Mart actually had alot of games in stock too. I am fighting the urge to go and get another game tomorrow. I have only gotten to play Lumines for a few minutes but it is alot of fun. I feel like a kid at christmas. I cant wait to go to bed and wake up and play with it. LOL.
Metal Gear Acid is turn based. Here's some thoughts I posted elsewhere:
Fundamentally, it's a turn based strategy game using cards to decide actions, with a heavy emphasis on stealth. It's not as odd or out there as that sounds - ignoring the cards, it's like a version of XCom or FFT with only one player controlled character. The levels are like MGS levels but with a grid overlay. Characters take turns to move & act.
The big difference is in how you decide whether to move or act, and what actions to take. Before each mission, you choose a deck of 30 cards from your repetoire, such as various pistols/grenades etc, health packs, equipment like armour or dodge, special attacks like Ninja. As you play the mission, you're dealt a random hand of these cards which you can either use or move with - selecting move throws the card away effectively. Without a weapon card in your hand, your only attack option is a simple punch. When you go through all 30 cards, the deck is shuffled & dealt again.
There are overarching rules/costs to using cards obviously, with each card having a "cost" that modifies turn speed etc. When you've used 4 cards or too much cost, your turn ends & passes onto the next enemy.
So a mission consists of you using cards to move around the MGS-like map, waiting for your enemies to turn their backs to you for you to sneak past or kill them. Sometimes you don't have the cards you need - it's easy to end up with a hand empty of guns for example.
Your performance in each mission is ranked of course, with bonuses awarded for fulfilling three targets, i.e. "no kills", "fast" & another I don't know Missions can be repeated. Inside each mission are bonus cards to pick up that get added to your selection... Points can be spent on new cards in between missions too.
The story & scenario... Well, the story is classic Metal Gear Solid hodgepodge hokum so far.
Graphics & sound are very similiar to the PSX Metal Gear Solid game from what I can remember of it. Controls/interface is nice & straightforward, and there's a mid mission save option too, which is very handy for a game of this nature.
So far, I'm really enjoying it. The intro sequence is long & utterly ignorable, which for me made it hard to get into - there's a good five minutes before you actually get to do anything - once I got past that, it really grabbed me.
