Anybody have any plans for the weekend? I'm heading down to St. Louis from Friday through Monday. Anybody have any suggestions of some good bars to hit for a recently separated 24 year old? I haven't been down to the Riverfront since I turned 21.

Turns out I guess I read this post just at the right time. First off, I'll be heading to Destin, FL this weekend with my wife and another couple across the street for a week of sun, fun, golf, cigars, and boozin'. If I would be in town, I'd take you out to some of the hotspots. Yes, the Riverfront is still there and full of all kinds of trouble. I've kind of retreated from it as I'm a little older now (27), and tend to stick closer to home. One bar I do like down there is the Big Bang. It has deuling piano players, and they kind of put on a comedy act. Always some good eye candy down there too (just looking, I'm married). Banana Joe's is down there which is a nut house, and full of all kinds. Morgan Street Brewery is a little more refined. It's a microbrewery, but also serves mainstream beer and spirits. If you're looking for the club scene, that's on Washington St. downtown. Not too familiar with these. Another fun area is Westport. Great bar there called Trainwreck. They usually have pretty good live cover bands and plenty of nice young ladies. One area that I really like is Soulard. It's in south city down broadway by the Anheuser-Busch brewery and there are some great places to eat/drink down there. A good Irish bar is McGurk's. If you want to look at some nice waitresses, go to Johnny's - you won't be disappointed. Lots of bars with outside patios if it's nice out. Another one is Big Daddy's. Now my all time favorite bar is The Brick on S. Broadway. It's past the brewery if you would be coming from downtown. The action doesn't usually pick up til midnight, and it's a 3 o'clock bar. Great bar food, and very stiff drinks. All kinds of people down there as well, along with appropriate eye candy. Now, if you feel the need to keep drinking past 3 a.m., or would like to see some more friendly females, I would suggest crossing the creek (Mississipi) to Illinois where there are a variety of gentleman's clubs. There are 2 in Sauget which probably are the best and safest (e.g. Diamond Cabaret). Just remember, the East side is a whole different game. You have to watch your ass on the immediate other side of the river. There are a few in Washington, IL, which are in a pretty rough neighborhood, so venture at your own risk. Of course, I wouldn't know any of this first hand as I'm married, just what I've heard.:wink:

I was supposed to be biking to Maine, but that has been pushed off. Instead I'll be out hiking with my hiking friends. Probably on some oddball trail in the Mohonk Preserve in NY.

Other than that, probably trying to get some hill training for the Tour de France...

Going out to the sis's lake house where pryrotechics are legal.
With all the guys around we end up disposing of about 2tons TNT.

Skiing, hoping noone dies on a jet ski. Making homemade icecream. The usual Red/White/ and Blue stuff.

If its a repeat of last year I'll be pulling a fishing hook out of my nephews miniture dachsund. And towing back someone who ran out of gas, and jumping on my littest nephew (really cute thing) to save him from the bottlerocket that went astray.
