I'm throwing out both The Grapes of Wrath and Last of the Mohicans as non-westerns. Both lists are very good, I'm going with EricG by a hair, John's choice of Lonesome Dove almost got my vote by itself.

I just got back from out of town yesterday and I'm leaving again tomorrow. In between I've been layed off by Hewlett Packard after almost 20 years on the job. Time for a career change at 50 I guess. Wish me luck.
