I'd wait for a review. 20 dimming zones isn't that great, and 600 nits peak brightness is unimpressive compared to the P65, which has 100 dimming zones and 1000 nits peak brightness (which is the spec for HDR10).

Also, it seems more like a marketing gimmick to have a "quantum" screen with only 600 nits peak brightness (which is around what OLED can do). Consider that the Samsung quantum sets output 2k nits and the PQ75 is around that range as well.

I see your point. A $100 savings might not be worth the video performance drop off.
Looks like I’ll stick with the P65.

Still looks like a good TV though.

Well folks, the more I look at our master new bedroom arrangement and the place where the TV will go, the more I like a 55” TV as opposed to a 65. Wife did a rearrangement which puts our bed much closer to the TV.
That and now Vizio has new Quantum offerings in that size. The new M series Quantum 55 has a lot of everything including 90 dimming zones vs 56 for their higher up 2018 P Series. However the P Series still has one really big advantage over even the newest M Series, a 120 MHZ native screen refresh rate (vs 60 MHZ on the M Series. Note I’m quoting native refresh rates, not the “effective refresh rates” used on the Vizio web site.

This is very important to me for watching Baker Mayfield and my Cleveland Browns this coming NFL season.

So now as birthday time approaches, a choice to be made. Either TV is a big upgrade from my current Vizio 50” M Series, vintage 2015.
