My friend deals in Japanese and Hong Kong DVDs, and he said that he'll be placing his next order in the next few weeks. He says that he is willing to sell the Twin Peaks pilot disc
for $15+$4 shipping to anyone who wants one(they're going for $25+ on Ebay). The sale is open until December 3,2001, midnight. A great way to complete your set!
He is an Ebay Power seller, and I personally vouch for him, if any of you have any problems, I'll go kick his butt personally :)
The disc's features
4:3 transfer
Dolby Digital 5.1 sound
English and Chinese subtitles (removeable)
Joan Chen and Kyle MacLachlan bios
HOW TO ORDER: Email me: [email protected] and I will put you on the list, which I will then turn over to Damon on December 4th. He will then contact you when the discs arrive. Any and all questions, feel free to email me.
Please note: He will not be ordering the discs until after December 3rd. You will not recieve any payment notice until they are IN-HAND. It will take 10-21 days from when he places the order to get the discs in.
Also please note that I am making absolutely no money on these whatsoever, I just want to hook up my fellow HTFers. And before anyone asks, I have cleared this with Ron beforehand.

Not to interfere with Jeff's sales, because his is a good deal...

Just want to make sure everyone knows:

• This is the **correct** pilot version, without the tacked on ending that screws up the series. Might NEVER be available in the US on DVD, was never offered on VHS! If you're a TP fan, or know one- get this version!

• I have the disc, and it looks really good. However has a speedup issue from being converted from PAL format- which is pretty obvious to anyone who is familiar with the music for the opening titles. Be aware when you order this, that it has a slightly pitch shifted soundtrack.

• Just for note, Ebay is not the only place to buy these: Lasersedge.com also carries them, but for a couple dollars more than Jeff's great deal. Just wanted to mention this in case anyone is uncomfy dealing with Jeff's contact, they can be bought from a mainstream DVD etailer.

I recently ordered this from hivizone.com but it hasn't shipped and I haven't been charged - it's beginning to be too long a time.

So, please don't close up the list until 12/3!!! If I haven't heard from them by then, I'll definitely wanna join up.

Thanks!

What methods of payment are acceptable? Is he cool with a money order?

Oh, and a question about the transfer…

This is an NTSC disc, right? What exactly is up with the PAL speedup that Vince mentions? Was the transfer taken from a PAL source? What exactly does that mean for the viewer? Was this originally shot 24fps or 30fps? Is it sped up 4% just like an actual PAL version would?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm not very familiar with film and video transfers and such.

First off, when comparing it to the Laserdisc, I noticed right away it seems that whoever mastered the movie (I assume) transferred it from a PAL Master. It's the only explanation I can think of for why the pitch of the sound is about a half step too high.

Some in the above seem a bit hard on the disc, I think it looks and sounds pretty good, especially considering the best copy I had before this was VHS (and most everyone says this disc whoops the laser!)... this DVD version HONESTLY brought tears to my girlfriend's eyes (she's a huge TP fan).
Hope that helps

I think it's a pretty good disc - especially since there's no telling when we'll get an American release. Jeff's friend's deal is outstanding and, if I didn't already own one, I'd buy into it.

Hell take money order or PayPal no problems. If you want to pay in another way, I'd be happy to ask

Still nothing from hivizone regarding my Twin Peaks order from 2-1/2 weeks ago - anybody else have bad experiences with them?
So, I'll send you an email to join the list, Jeff. It'll be from "Richard Malloy", but rest assured... it's "Al"! :)

I talked to Damon, and due to the sudden influx of people, we're going to extend the deadline until Friday. Any and all are welcome to put in their request

Hi Jeff,
I sent you an email about a week or so ago, but I didn't get a response. I just wanted to make sure you got it. :)
