Heavens above - never thought this would end up on Blu-ray. One of my favourite quotable films from my 80's childhood. :)

My sisters had this on VHS when they were Girl Scouts. I just watched this on Netflix in HD and I loved it. I laughed harder than I did at a lot of recent comedies. You won't be disappointed in the transfer. For all of Sony's troubles, at least their technical standards are rigorous.

I didn't realize Betty Thomas was the villain, thus the first Brady Bunch Movie is a reunion for her and Shelley Long.

I saw a very early Rilo Kiley concert (lead singer Jenny Lewis is in the film) and during the show about 10 people suddenly screamed "Troop Beverly Hills Rules!" at the top of their lungs. Jenny was kind of shocked, but thanked them.

The Blu-ray has a few good features - DVD was bare-bones except for some trailers - so this will be a no-brainer upgrade for me now.

Nice to see the deleted scenes. Would have been cool to have a commentary track. but the interviews should be nice.

Super excited for this catalog release. I wore out and destroyed a VHS of this back in the day. Never picked up the DVD.

This AND an OAR release of My Girl? Time to start selling some cookies. :D

Surprisingly for a studio with a woman as its logo and the one that had the first woman executive in Hollywood (the late Dawn Steel), it seemed like anything with little girls, including most of the redheaded ones, in it got an MAR DVD.

Will these Blu-Rays include the original theatrical trailers? I know that "My Girl" had one in its' DVD release, but "Troop Beverly Hills" only had trailers for other Sony titles. New Sony titles don't have trailers, but the catalog ones usually do (barring those that were pawned off to Mill Creek). I'm actually eyeing the "Troop Beverly Hills" Blu-Ray for when I buy my Blu-Ray player. I'm always willing to take a chance on 80s movies I've never seen before, and I've heard of this movie's cult reputation.

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

I know that Siskel and Ebert gave it two thumbs down and named it as one of the worst movies of 1989, but I'm the type of fellow who is willing to give most any movie a chance.
