When set to compression mode, does the TV create black or grey bars?
I know I've read that 16x9 compression is user controllable, but will the tv allow it to be turned on with 480i and 480p or does it only work on 1080i?
Thanks,
Ian

Ian, there are 2 16:9 modes in this years sets - 'Compression' and 'Letterbox'.
Compression does just that - compresses the vertical size of the scanned area. The area above and below is unscanned and therefore black. In Letterbox mode, the image is 'decimated' to fit to 16:9. In this mode, there are grey bars top and bottom.
These new modes work with any resolution input plugged into the component video jacks only.
