Too many DVD's to pre-order! All released on different days. :-( (1 Viewer)

Right now I need to pre-order the following: French Connection 2 disc SE, The Terminator SE, Monty Python & The Holy Grail, Doctor Zhivaga, Lone Wolf McQuade, The Godfather set and Star Trek The Motion Picture! Nearly all of these come out on seperate dates, so I need to pay shipping for each one.

Can you believe the amount of titles that are being released right now? I mean GOOD titles! I don't mind paying for them and I can afford them with ease, but my girlfriend (who will be more than that soon), as much as she loves DVD and my HDTV, is gonna flip when she sees how many DVD's I have coming in over the next two months. She says it's "a sickness."

Who else is sick?

And what other good flicks are coming out soon that I should pre-order?

And I'd have to do a lot more than just whistle while I work to afford that whole laundry list of titles, not to mention find the time to watch them all.

My wife loves the X-Files. As long as I get her a fix of the season sets, its open season on the ones that I want. She also enjoys recent blockbuster hit movies (Shrek, Mummy Returns, Tomb Raider, SW:Episode I, etc) and animation so she is okay with those too.
Now, when I go into classics (she calls them old movies) like Godfather, Total Recall SE, Terminator SE or anime in general (she only likes Cowboy Bebop) then she looks at me like I am crazy. She doesn't understand why I get Anchor Bay horror movies or certain "older" good movies.
Oh well, I guess one of the reasons we got a wife/girlfriend is to keep us in check from the DVD addiction. It is stronger than any of us. We can not stop it, we can only hope to contain it.

Here's another plug for Deep Discount DVD. I only recently started ordering from them, but they don't charge for shipping. Even though orders can take from 5-10 days with their standard shipping, they ship pre-orders early enough so you can get them around the release date.
No shipping = who cares how many different orders you place?
Of course, the other possibility is to order from someone like Amazon and check the Ship Order When Complete. The only downside is that you won't get all the discs as soon as they're released.
And don't forget Shrek (Friday 11/2 release)...

I've been placing orders about once every four weeks for the next month, and having them all delivered together. I get 8 or 9 at one time and even with 2nd day air for FedEx, it comes to about $2 or less for each disk, which isn't bad.
The worst part is figuring out which disks I can wait to get, and which ones I have to have now.

I order some DVD's from deepdiscountdvd. If I don't have to have it the day it's released, I go with them. Otherwise I go wherever I can get it fast and cheap.
I just ordered DIE HARD 2 SE, UNCOMMON VALOR and KNIGHT MOVES from Digital Eyes, as all are on sale ($17.99, $17.99 and $8.99). I pre-ordered THE TERMINATOR at the same time. Since that is out next week, they should ship at the same time. I hope.

I vote for Deep Discount DVD if you wish to avoid shipping, but only if they have the title in stock; or if you pre-order. I lost two of my orders because the titles were "discontinued." Otherwise, good service.
I went to Digital Eyes to get those two titles. They seem to have a lot in stock. Plus they shipped mine same day of the order. This is my first experience with them, so I'll wait and see. Email if you want to know how it goes.
Man. Only one month ago -- one month ago! -- I was perfectly content with my 8 DVDs. I was happy to rent what I could get at Blockbuster (No other choice). Now I must have everything. It really is like an addiction. I can't understand why I feel I must have everything!

You're right, of course...how could I have missed that!
I figure I'll be lucky if, out of those roughly 100 discs, I purchase 50-ish of them myself and get another dozen for Christmas. I say a dozen, because for the 3rd year in a row I've alerted all gift-giving family and friends to get me nothing but DVD's or gift certificates to stores that sell them!

Matt, I'll go with the others concerning Deep Discount DVD. Not only do they almost always have the best prices on the web, the shipping is FREE!!!!!! Albeit it might come a couple days past street date (my DVDs ship 5 days before street date, come 2 days after, like clockwork) it's certainly worth it if you don't have access to a good B&M.
