    The actual event was 25 years ago today...so, wouldn't THIS have been a good week to release the DVD?

    Yeah, but then I could have died a happy man, and I'm not ready to die just yet.

    The Last Waltz is definitely my most highly-anticipated disc of the coming year. I guess I'll just have to keep spinnin' the old LD 'till then.

    With the full participation of Scorcese and Robertson, the DVD should be sweet. I'm willing to be patient.

    I did happen to catch it being played on local radio for the 25th aniversary.

    Great material, deserving of a decent presentation on DVD.

    There are also plans to rerelease The Last Waltz in a remastered CD version around the same time as the DVD.

    Just in from MGM is a 5/7 release date for the classic Martin Scorsese documentary The Last Waltz. This special edition includes a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, two audio commentaries with producer Robbie Robertson, and director Martin Scorsese and performers, "Revisiting The Last Waltz" featurette with Robertson and Scorsese, and trailers. Retail is $24.95.
