The end of the year is upon us and still no sign of the promised SE edition of "The Color Purple". What happened to it?

I know that we've talked about this before, so a search might be in order to get better info than what's in my ailing memory.

But it WAS in WB's press materials for a few weeks at one point earlier this year, then was removed with no explanation. It hasn't been restored to that database since then.

It MIGHT be considered part of the group of items to get 2-Disc SE's, like the recent spate of them we saw with Cuckoo's Nest, Unforgiven, Amadeus, and Singin' In The Rain. However, they wouldn't want to give this treatment to EVERYTHING all at once, would they?

Consensus conclusion seems to be that we can best expect this rerelease to happen next year: Late Summer/Early Fall of 2003 would be the time to bank on. I tend to agree with that assessment, but think it could even be as early as the spring.
