My school had a dance last night and it got me thinking.. would corner-loading the pro-audio subwoofers (if that's what they're called) in an auditorium work the same way as corner loading your sub at home? Just curious, cause I've never seen it.

Sort of. Room resonances aren't as much of an issue in larger rooms, but there's still boundary reinforcement from being near to as many surfaces as possible.
