Here is some additional information...

This is not a Universal release in the U.K.

It is being distributed by Second Sight and there is
an included 80-minute documentary on the disc.

Don't know if we would get the documentary on
a U.S. release.

And, since this not Universal releasing this title, that
sort of dampens the chances of a domestic release.

Of course, this is all speculative.

I'm going all in for the UK release. Have waited too long for this, especially since it has an 80 min documentary. Great movie, great cast, superior sound track, but really, do we need more than Diane Lane?

There is none of that speedup with Blu-ray that you had with PAL DVDs.

I don't know the technical reasons for it, but you should have no worries.

Some smaller distributors in Europe do occasionally put out 1080i50Hz releases (Danish Soul Media is notorious for it) and those will have a higher pitch than a 1080p24 one would have.

I wonder if there will be a Russian release...(this film was supposedly "big" in "post wall" Russia...)

I've never found a Russian DVD that didn't come in a hard case like DVD-A comes in. Granted, I don't read Russian so deciphering what the menu is takes a hit-or-miss challenge, the artwork/case is always top notch.

Maybe I need to find some Russian Blu...

I love this movie. From what I've read, though, this release will be Region B only. Sure would like a US release (or a regrion free overseas release).
