Dead thread or no, it's ironic how alive, topical and apropos the issues remain which Verhoeven and Neumeier discuss in their commentary track. Recorded in presumably 1998, it's ironic to hear Verhoeven mention Iraq.
With references to Time and The Washington Post, it's also a little refreshing to hear how much attention they paid to their reviews. So often we hear similarly-situated filmmakers dismissively/disingenuously say, 'I don't read the reviews.'
