There's an item in the video setup menu for both the Sony X700 and X800M2 that simply gives you the options of "TV" or "projector".

What the heck does this mean? What is the difference between them? I just moved my X700 over to work on my 1080P Optima DLP projector and reset it to "projector", but I don't know what this means. I wish Sony would explain these settings somewhere.

I did some reading over on AVS. Nobody knows for sure - Sony won't comment - but apparently "TV" means the video goes straight through. "Projector" is some kind of Sony pseudo-HDR settings for projectors that don't have enough brightness for any kind of true HDR. Most people say the "projector" mode gives a washed out picture and bad black levels, so they just go back to the "TV" setting.
