Circuit city has 20.00 off purchases from 140-200 dollars. I picked up the 775 sony sacd player for 179.00 which aint bad!! considering its a b/m store.

    John,

Some of the Best Buys in Southern California just dropped the price to $179, too. It's an amazing deal for that player.

Is that circuit city coupon just available in the store? Or was it sent to you in the mail?

    Thanks

It was in the sale paper this weekend, so it wasnt really a coupon.

CC has the Sony SCD-CE775 on sale this week for $179 till 05/11/02.

My local CC also had 3 open-box 775's on a display case for the price of 179. Since a new one is now 179, I would imagine they would sell the open-box players for a lot less than that this week.

Do you think it would be worth picking up one of these open-box players and then getting it mod-ed? Might be the cheapest way to decent SACD.

John, given that a new 'CE775 is only $179, I can't imagine that an open-box unit would be too much cheaper. Given the uncertainty surrounding how much abuse an open-box unit might have absorbed, I'd go with a new unit.
