I just got a new Sony KD-34XBR960 and was wondering if I should have it ISF calibrated or if getting Video Essentials is fine?

If so, can anybody recommend someone in the Los Angeles area?

I just purchased the same set. It is beautiful and if you want it to be accurate you should have it professionally calibrated. I come to LA about every 3 months and will be there again in September.

To book, use the booking form at www.lionav.com and the paypal interface to send the $50 travel fee. The calibration fee is $275 and includes 3 gray scales, and all inputs (component and DVI). It also includes convergence work, which is needed on this set to make it as sharp as possible. The calibration fee is due when the work is performed.

For a tube set like this, once every 3 to 4 years.

It should be considered if you want accurate colours ... since TV's are made to SELL and that has nothing to do with colour accuracy.
