Pretty good preview numbers last night for Sonic 2 at $6.2 million. Though it's a bit hard to compare as this number included some Wednesday fan previews and Thursday shows began at 3PM vs 7PM for most other films' Thursday previews.

Paramount’s Sonic The Hedgehog 2 grossed $6.25M in previews from Wednesday fan screenings and Thursday showtimes that started at 3 PM. The film is expected to make north of $50M this weekend. (Deadline)

Estimates now stand at $67M. That alone is the best opener for a video game adaptation but it could still go higher when actuals come out.

My wife and I saw it last night with our two kids (ages 7 and 4) and we all enjoyed it a lot. Not quite as good as the first, but only because the first was so UNEXPECTEDLY good. This is a very worthy sequel with just as much wit and humor as the first, but perhaps goes ALMOST too much with the action at times, but it by no means ruins the experience or anything. It’s a fun entry and I’m totally up for a 3rd if they wish.
