Hello Everyone! Long time no see/talk!
There is sheetrock dust EVERYWHERE in my house!
Basically our main downstairs hallway and formal dining area had 20' + ceilings. (all the way to the second story ceiling)
I always thought it was a waste of space and inefficient. So the day I bought the house I knew I would build a home theater in that space.
4 1/2 years later I finally lined up a contractor, pulled permits and here we go.
What a flipping mess.

Electrical tomorrow and low voltage this weekend! I am pumped!

Looks like a good start. One thing I've found from previous construction projects and contractors: For the real schedule, take the time they estimate, add 50% and expect things to run late. I not trying to be derogitory-just about all the contractors I've worked with in the past did, at worst, a good job (except 1) and I think the last group I've worked with did great. It's just my way of avoiding disappointments over time lines. I should also mention that, one time, I had a contractor that was done (with a house) 2 days before his projected date, so it happens.
What will the layout of your space be?

My contractor is very on-top-of-it. My previous experience with other contractors was horrible. Everything so far is early, under-budget and good quality.
The room is 19' x 13'

Looks nice. Love the pics!
We just moved into a new house. It has a huge 2 story entrance, but no second story. Just open space at the front of the house like you have.
Anyway...
I put my theater in one of our spare rooms...it works.
Looking forward to seeing the progress, and thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I am very pleased on how things are turning out. I have been staring at that open space for over 4 years. It is nice to visualize it while standing in it now!

Flooring goes in on the 13th. That is the last step. After that it will be putting in the equipment. I will have the projector and screen in prior to flooring.
The plan is to have it all dialed in by the 18th. :tu:

Suggestion about your screen: If it is DIY, make sure you have enough space to bring it into the room if you assemble it somewhere else. Mine had outside dimensions of 126"x54", and I found it a tight fit manuvering throught the hall and past the furniture that had already been delivered. If it's large and it's a fixed size, it may be easier to assemble it in the room before bringing anything in.

Chris!
Welcome home!

Congrats on the project...and the good progress towards completion.

I'm not sure I'll ever get past the "dreaming it" stage...
